Worksop College Concert Series

Welcome to another spectacular season of the Worksop College Concert Series - a truly exceptional programme of live performance, run by the College to enrich music-lovers across the region. This non-profit venture is dedicated to presenting beautiful and inspiring music at an accessible cost, inviting both the public and our school community to experience excellence in performance and education. We are privileged once again to present artists of outstanding calibre from the UK and beyond, while also showcasing the exceptional talents of our own pupils and staff.

This year we host three professional lunchtime concerts which sit alongside the pupils’ regular Friday lunchtime concert slot; some evening concert times vary too, so do check the start times carefully!

The series continues the strong spirit of education married with quality and diversity. There will be much to marvel at, from the exuberant virtuosity of the Baroque Wild Men and the potentially unexpected melodic beauty of the Riot String Trio, to the splendour and solemnity of Drewent Brass - a 28-piece Championship Band.

We also continue our cherished partnership with the world-renowned a cappella ensemble VOCES8, whose inventive programming and immaculate ensemble have inspired both pupils and audiences since their debut here thirteen years ago.

There really is something for everyone and we look forward to seeing you in our audience soon.

JOHN LENEHAN presents “THE ROARING TWENTIES”

With more than 80 albums to his credit, John Lenehan ranks as one of the most versatile pianists on the classical scene today. His interest in the combination of music and film has been long-standing. As director of “Sounds for Silents” he has written and arranged more than 20 film scores, which were performed throughout the UK in Festivals such as Aldeburgh, Cheltenham, Brighton, and Harrogate as well as in Italy, Germany, Norway, and Australia. He continues to present film and music programmes, reviving the art of the improvising pianist – the most recent including a tribute to the roaring twenties.
